Public warned about illegal dangerous ‘vodka’

Following a raid on an illegal alcohol manufacturing plant in Cardiff on St David’s Day (1/3/07), Cardiff Trading Standards have had samples of the spirit tested to assess the true nature of the contents of the bottle.
The initial findings of the analysis show that the contents are diluted industrial strength alcohol, with a methanol content many times that permitted. It would therefore be extremely harmful to human health.

Early indications are that a quantity of the product left the plant, for distribution.
John Reynolds from Gwynedd Council’s Trading Standards Unit, said:
“The General Public and traders across south Wales and beyond should be on the lookout for this particular brand of ‘Vodka’. It is not Vodka and should not be consumed.
“If anyone has any ‘1806 Christoff 100% Pure Vodka’ in their possession or knows of it’s whereabouts please get in touch with Gwynedd Trading Standards on 01286 682728 or Cardiff Trading Standards on 029 20872059.”
